Big Sky sits in the mountains about an hour south of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), via US-191 through the Gallatin Canyon. Bozeman is the region’s town: restaurants, shops, Montana State University and the airport in neighboring Belgrade.
| Bozeman / Belgrade | Big Sky | |
|---|---|---|
| Airport (BZN) | Belgrade: about 5 minutes. Downtown Bozeman: about 15–20 minutes | About an hour by our estimate |
| Skiing | Bridger Bowl is close; Big Sky Resort about an hour | Big Sky Resort on your doorstep |
| Yellowstone | Day trips to the North (~1.5 hr) and West (~1.6 hr) entrances | On US-191 toward West Yellowstone |
| Food & shopping | The widest choice in the region | Smaller, resort-focused |
| Summer | Hiking, rafting, hot springs, markets | Lone Peak Tram, Ousel Falls, Gallatin rafting |
| Best for | Mixed trips: Yellowstone, town, skiing and easy flights | Ski-focused stays |
If you want Yellowstone, Bozeman and a day or two at Big Sky in one trip, a base near BZN keeps flights easy and puts everything within a day trip. That’s where our homes are.
